Single, Paired & Group Tuition

Subject to the terms of agreement as detailed in the email/letters sent out.

1.       The tutor can provide an appropriate instrument for the tutee which can be used during the lesson, and appropriate learning materials for the tutee.  However, I may give recommendations of further appropriate materials to support the learning of the tutee.

2.       An adult parent or carer must book all sessions as a block of tuition which should be paid for in full before commencement of the first session of tutoring. The tuition fee covers the  Block/tuition term which is either 9, 10 or 11 weeks, unless otherwise stated. Cheques to be made payable to: Mr P C Jolliffe.

3.       The tutee is responsible for attending the session and refunds cannot be given for absence from the session.

4.       If the tutor needs to cancel the session due to unforeseen circumstances, then rearrangement of the session will be made in agreement with the terms.

5.       The tutor cannot accept responsibility for sessions being cancelled by the education establishment without prior notice.

6.       Refunds will not be made available once payment has been made, other than in exceptional circumstances.

7.       Sessions must be arranged with the tutor by an adult parent or carer.

8.       An emergency contact number must be available at the school for the child in case of any emergency requiring parental contact.

9.       The tutor may terminate the agreement at any given point if deemed necessary, without refund.

10.      A half term’s notice is required for the discontinuance of tuition or a half term’s fee in lieu of notice for tuition programmes that last longer than 6 weeks.

11.      Parents of children who participate in two or more activities provided by MYGUK will receive a combined and itemised invoice (AO1 Invoice).

Single Tuition (also known as one to one tuition & may relate to tuition delivered on school premises)

In addition to the terms of agreement above:

1.       These times must be arranged in agreement with MYGUK Music Education and the school.

2.       These sessions must be pre-booked and paid for in full.

3.       Lessons cancelled by the school must be paid for; however we will try to reschedule these.

4.       A minimum of two hours notice should be given to report absence.  This notice should be given either face to face, by text or email.

5.       We may take leave of absence during the school term time; however you will be notified of these dates.

Section B: Home Based & Sessional Based Tuition

Each booking is classed as a ‘service agreement’ meaning that the lesson has been previously scheduled to take place on the agreed date, time and place. Unless the stated time of notice has been given for the lesson cancellation, the lesson must be paid for at the agreed rate when the service was previously booked.

1.       Times can be arranged with myself either face to face, by SMS or Email.  Lessons cannot be directly arranged via social media.

2.       A minimum of two hours notice should be given if you require a cancellation otherwise the lesson must be paid for as this service has been previously agreed.

3.       If I have to cancel the lesson due to unforeseen circumstances then I will try to rearrange at the earliest possible convenience. I will always try to give as much notice as feasibly possible.

4.       Lessons can be paid for per session or in a block booking if you wish to retain the same time each week.

5.       Lessons may last between 30 minutes and 1 hour depending on which you choose and we have agreed. Full payment is required for the agreed length of the lesson.

6.       An adult parent/carer or another adult acting in loco-parentis should be on the premises during the session of tuition.

7.       Please ensure that you have completed a registration form so that I have your contact details.

8.       I cannot guarantee that customers will be able to retain the same lesson time week on week although I will do my best to keep consistency.

9.       I may take leave of absence during the school term time or school holiday time; however I will notify you of these dates unless emergency absence by myself is required.

2a.       After any sickness/D&V illnesses in your household, please allow 48 hours before I arrive to deliver a lesson.

Parents who request Home Based Tuition, including those who are using and MYGUK recommended sub-contractor, must sign the Home Based Agreement Terms of Service.

Section C: Instrument & Equipment Hire

1.       Both guitars and ukuleles can be hired for a set period at a fixed rate. Payment for hire must be made in full before the instrument can be released.

2.       For school based tuition, ukuleles are hired out on a 6 week agreement.

3.       Guitars can be hired on a 12 week (3 month) agreement with a one initial insurance payment. After the first 12 weeks, guitars can be rented on a monthly basis/agreement.

4.       Separate terms of agreement are laid out on the rental invoice.

Section D: Discounts (where applicable.)
  • Customer Reward Cards have now replaced the Advance Booking System (as of July 2018.) These can be used to now access the priority places & where applicable, the discounts available. Please ask should you require one of these cards.
  • Sibling discounts (SD1) are available for two or more siblings who are participating in the same club, not necessarily in the same session.  There are some exclusions to this.  Please ask if you would like to access this discount.
  • Parents of children who participate in two or more separate activities can access a termly discount.  This will be displayed on the AO1 invoices as of May 2018.
  • Parents who have children where SD1 & AO1 discounts may apply should enquire as to the rates available, as these are currently non-combinable.
