How we charge for tuition.
Charges for periods of tuition are split into what we call ‘Blocks’. These are defined in x2 ways
In calculating a block, we determine many factors to work out the most cost-effective way of teaching individuals or groups. These factors include:
The number of children involved.
The size of the school and realistically/estimated how many children may take part in the activity.
The socio-economic background of the school’s locality.
The cost required to pay the tutor
The cost of teaching resources/equipment used and maintained.
The cost of performance or additional events that the tutor may attend at the school’s request
The cost to insure against reduction of numbers in group sizes or to maintain a cost-effective fair grouping size before we hit the group ‘threshold.’ We may change the threshold definitions, but at present these stand as:
small group threshold – 8 participants
Medium group threshold – 13 participants
1)Short Term Blocks (STB) – usually these are 6 weeks in length.
2)Full Term Blocks (FTB) or a ‘Tuition Term’. This is what we define as either 9, 10 or 11 weeks of tuition. Usually we aim for 10 weeks in a tuition term, or at most 11 weeks. On rare occasions we will only have 9 weeks. However, the overall calculation is based on 30 sessions per academic year.
Therefore, we do not operate on a ‘cost per session’ basis. We try to look at the whole picture to make the price cost effective.
Throughout these Blocks we aim to keep the price as consistent as possible. In doing this, customers are aware of the probable cost for the forthcoming term.
To encourage consistency with tuition, we try to make our Full Term Blocks a very appealing price.
Should the price increase, this should at most be only by a small amount. This is only to ensure that the costs to cover the block are maintained. Please remember that we are always working on an estimation of numbers who will be continuing the following term. This is to ensure that we do not run at a loss. As inflation rises, we obviously have to meet our costs. We will always try our best to be as cost effective as possible. Please check your invoices carefully. If you find that the cost has risen significantly then this will be because you are now paying for a FTB rather than and STB.
Should the price decrease, this maybe due to us hitting the threshold for the group.
Customers whose children are participating in a new-group start up may be offered a discount option to book for the first x2 blocks, rather than just 1 block/STB.
Please note that this offer is only effective at the start and we would encourage customers to take up this option.
Children who participate in two or more activities with us are eligible for a termly based discount.
We also try to offer sibling-based discounts. Parents should ask for these though.
